Vitor Belfort posted a video of his UFC 133 training camp, which has caught the attention of many. If you were one of the thousands that saw it, then you might have noticed that Belfort was training with Alvaro Romano, founder and inventor of “Ginastica Natural.”

Belfort is currently training for his fight against Yoshihiro Akiyama on August 6th, in Philadelphia. Alvaro Romano has joined Team Belfort to help Belfort get ready for this fight. So what is “Ginastica natural”?

Ginastica Natural is a style of training influenced by the ground movements of jiu-jitsu. Who is Alvaro Romano?

Alvaro Romano is a Jiu-Jitsu black belt, who studied under Rolls Gracie, and then later trained with Carlos Gracie Junior and Rickson Gracie. He is also a brown belt in judo, participated in triathlon races and long-distance swimming. Romano was one of the first surfers in Rio de Janeiro to practice Jiu-Jitsu.

Alvaro Romano developed Ginastica Natural for fighters using his years of experience as a Jiu-Jitsu fighter, keeping up with the sport’s evolution by training athletes and participating in events around the world.

Founder and inventor of the Ginastica Natural method, Alvaro Romano currently lives in San Diego, California.
